Inferior turbinate mucosal ablation (coblator inferior turbinate mucosal ablation) (high frequency surgery)

ENTEC Coblator 2 Surgery System

It is a surgical method using (hereinafter referred to as "coblation").

Indications: Allergic rhinitis (perennial allergic rhinitis, hay fever, vasomotor rhinitis)

Hypertrophic rhinitis Chronic sinusitis Eosinophilic sinusitis

Therapeutic effect: ( 1) It is especially effective for people with strong nasal congestion.

One month after surgery, the effect was seen in 97% of people, and even one year later, the effect persisted in 76%.

(2) Sneezing and runny nose improved in 66% of people 1 month after surgery, and 2 years after surgery, respectively.

An improvement of 65% and 71% has been obtained. Good results have been maintained even 2 years after surgery.

Surgery: Less invasive and can be treated on an outpatient basis.

Insert the tip of the probe into the mucosa using a high-frequency current to form the lamina propria with bass.

Surgical method: Performed under local anesthesia.

1. Apply surface anesthesia to gauze soaked with 5000 times epinephrine and 4% lidocaine for 15 minutes.

2. Inject lidocaine containing 1% epinephrine into the submucosa of the inferior turbinate and perform infiltration anesthesia.

3. After confirming that the anesthesia is sufficiently effective, insert a probe into 1 to 3 places and cauterize the submucosa of the inferior turbinate.

Other surgical indications using coblator

1. Nasal polyps (nasal polyps)

For those who have strong nasal congestion due to nasal polyps, nasal polyps are reduced by cobrator surgery and nasal congestion is improved.

2. Reduction of palatine tonsil hypertrophy

3. Athenoid hyperplasia, mouth breathing, snoring, addictive and exudative otitis media

The cause is thought to be adenoid proliferation, but the case is the subject of surgery.

It is done under an endoscope. It is an operation for the purpose of obtaining improvement of the above-mentioned symptoms due to adenoid proliferation.

Endoscopic sinus surgery = (ESS)

Compared to conventional intranasal surgery with the naked eye, sinus surgery using an endoscope via the nose has been recognized to greatly improve the accuracy and safety of the surgery.

Advances in surgical technology using monitors-TVs and recording equipment have traditionally required hospitalization for 1 to 3 weeks, but now it can be done on a day trip.

Diseases to be operated on

Before surgery, CT scans of the nose and sinuses, blood tests will be performed, and information such as medical history and medications currently being taken will be asked.
